PEEK bonded retainer wire

Why a bonded retainer is essential after treatment

After months of braces, your smile is finally aligned. But without retention, 90% of teeth shift again within two years—sometimes within the very first weeks.

The bonded retainer acts like an invisible seatbelt: it keeps your teeth in place day and night, discreetly and comfortably.

Metal or PEEK: the choice of material changes everything—comfort, hygiene, aesthetics… This small wire plays a big role in keeping your smile stable.

The real problems with metal retainers

Frequent breakage and debonding

A retainer is supposed to last a lifetime. In reality, metal wires often break or debond much sooner.
Result: unexpected costs to replace it… or teeth starting to shift again if it isn’t rebonded in time.

MRI scans and medical imaging

Depending on the area being scanned, metal may be incompatible with some MRI exams. Temporary removal may be required and then re-bonding after the exam, which is inconvenient and can lead to extra costs.

Everyday discomfort & hygiene

Thicker wire, metallic feel, discomfort when speaking or eating: comfort isn’t always guaranteed.
For hygiene, plaque builds up more easily, and flossing can be difficult.

FAQ – PEEK special

Is PEEK more expensive?
No. It’s generally covered at the same level as a metal retainer by most insurers, with no extra cost if your clinic includes it in its treatment package.
How long does it last?
In more than 95% of cases, it lasts over 25 years with no special maintenance. No corrosion and no breakage risk like with metal.
Can my orthodontist refuse?
You are absolutely free to request it and to consult other professionals. We provide a complete protocol you can share to make placement easier.
Is it really invisible?
Yes. PEEK is white and matte, with no metallic shine. Once bonded, it blends into the tooth and becomes almost imperceptible when speaking or smiling.

Why I created eZtain

Over the years, I’ve seen too many retainers break, feel uncomfortable, or simply fail to maintain results. Nothing was truly satisfying… neither for my patients nor for me. That’s what pushed me to create eZtain: a more reliable, more discreet retainer—finally aligned with today’s expectations.
